Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much do your grant writing services cost?
Our fees depend on the scope of work. We offer:
- Per Project Rates – For one-time proposals, letters of intent, or smaller requests.
- Monthly Retainers – For nonprofits seeking ongoing research and writing support.
- Custom Packages – For organizations needing research, writing, strategy, and training combined.
Transparency is important to us. You’ll always receive a detailed quote before work begins. Unlike some firms, we do not take a percentage of awarded grants — that’s considered unethical in the nonprofit sector. Instead, we charge flat fees or retainer rates that align with your budget and ensure fairness for all clients.
2. Can you guarantee funding?
No ethical grant writer can guarantee that your proposal will be funded. Final decisions always rest with the funder. What we can guarantee is:
- Professionally written proposals that are competitive and compelling.
- Thorough research to target funders that align with your mission.
- Expert strategy to increase your organization’s chances of success.
For over 10 years, we’ve helped nonprofits secure millions in funding, and our track record demonstrates that working with us significantly increases your likelihood of being funded.
3. Do you work with small or new nonprofits?
Yes! We specialize in helping small to mid-sized nonprofits build their funding capacity. Many of our clients start with little to no grant history. We’ll help you:
- Identify starter grants for first-time applicants.
- Create strong organizational narratives, even if you’re new.
- Develop budgets, logic models, and program descriptions funders want to see.
- Build long-term funding strategies, not just “one-off” applications.
If your nonprofit is brand new, we can guide you through grant readiness, making sure you have the right documents, policies, and infrastructure before applying.
4. How long does it take to prepare a grant proposal?
On average, grant proposals take 4–6 weeks to prepare, depending on complexity. This includes research, writing, budgeting, and internal review. For larger federal or state grants, the process can take 2–3 months.
We recommend nonprofits work with us to build a grant calendar so proposals are prepared well ahead of deadlines. Rush projects are sometimes possible but may incur additional fees
.
5. What information do we need to provide you to get started?
We’ll walk you through everything, but typically we’ll need:
- Your mission and vision statements
- Organizational budget and program budgets
- Program descriptions (who you serve, how you serve, and outcomes)
- Past proposals (if any)
- Key documents like IRS determination letter, board list, and financials
Don’t worry if you don’t have everything polished — we help clients organize and strengthen these materials.
6. What types of grants do you write?
We have experience with:
- Foundation Grants (local, regional, national)
- Corporate Giving Programs
- State and Federal Grants (including federal RFPs and multi-year awards)
- Capacity-Building and Operating Grants
- Specialty Areas such as healthcare, housing, youth programs, veterans’ services, arts, and education
We match your mission to the right type of funder, rather than using a “one size fits all” approach.
7. What makes your services different from other grant writers?
- 20+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience
- Proven record of securing 5- and 6-figure awards
- Custom research — no generic grant lists or recycled proposals
- Partnership mindset — we work with you long-term, not just for one project
- Affordable, ethical pricing designed for small to mid-sized organizations
Our goal isn’t just to write grants — it’s to build your nonprofit’s capacity and sustainability.
8. How do you conduct grant research?
We use a combination of professional grant databases, funder directories, and insider knowledge to identify opportunities that:
- Match your mission and geographic service area
- Fit your organizational size and capacity
- Align with your program goals and demographics served
Every client receives a customized grant prospect list, prioritized by likelihood of funding.
9. How do you work with nonprofits outside of your city or state?
We serve clients nationwide. Thanks to virtual tools, we can:
- Conduct discovery calls over Zoom or phone
- Share and edit documents collaboratively
- Submit applications online on your behalf
Location is never a barrier — many of our most successful client relationships have been fully remote.
10. Do you provide training or support for staff and board members?
Yes! Beyond writing, we believe in empowering your nonprofit. We offer:
- Board & Staff Trainings on how to approach funders
- Grant Readiness Workshops
- Donor Communication Templates
- Ongoing Consulting Packages for nonprofits that want to build in-house capacity
This ensures your team grows stronger alongside our services.
11. What results have your clients seen?

- A housing nonprofit expanded to three new cities with multi-year grant awards.
- A health clinic received $100,000 in federal funding to expand care access.
Every nonprofit is different, but our clients consistently see increased funding opportunities and stronger long-term funder relationships.
